An Update

September 17, 2008

Kennison has now had 4 days of preschool. The first two days, she screamed for 45 minutes. On Friday, she screamed for 5 minutes. Yesterday, she screamed for a few seconds. There has been an improvement! She told us she likes her teacher and that she wants to go back, so that’s definitely a step in the right direction! So far, she has refused to do every art project, which I don’t understand… she LOVES to color and always requests her crayons at home. Hopefully that will change.

So Monday was my birthday, and I am lucky enough to have had several celebrations! On Saturday night, Kenny’s parents and sister and brother-in-law took the kiddos so we could go to The Melting Pot with Mike and Tori. On Sunday, we met my parents, Tori and Mike, and Kenny’s parents (with our kids, of course) at the Mexican restaurant down the street for lunch. Sunday night, Tori cooked spaghetti bake for us. On Monday evening, Kenny and I went to eat at Chili’s, and last night, Tori and Mike brought over a Dairy Queen cake! All of my celebrations revolved around food… hmmm… well, we were supposed to go to the zoo on Saturday, but it rained a whole bunch, so we decided to skip that. Even though we mostly ate, it was a wonderful birthday. What a way to turn 28 – surrounded by a beautiful family and others that love me!

Yesterday, after preschool, Tori and I took the kids to the park. Kennison was riding on the footrest of Tori’s jogging stroller (which she has done MANY times). All of a sudden, Kennison was off of the stroller and onto the sidewalk. Then there was some crying, but not as much as you’d expect. And, as soon as we mentioned ice cream, she was fine and telling us what kind she wanted. Here is a close-up of her injury today (please ignore the chocolate cereal residue): I know it’s kind of blurry, but she has a spot on the side of her left nostril, a scrape under her nose, and a skinned area on her cheek. We thought it was going to look a lot worse than it does.

Here’s a picture of her whole face, because these days, when she’s willing to pose for a picture, you snap up the opportunity.

And another:

And why would I ever have a post without a picture of this cutie, who never minds being the subject of a photo? Oh! Colton crawled about two “steps” on Monday. That was a GREAT birthday present!

Here’s a picture of Kennison pointing out her booboo, or “bug bite” as she’s been calling it:

And last but not least, here is Kennison listing the people that she loves. The first time she did this, she listed Mikey every other time. It was so cute! This time I think she included almost everyone that she remembers and that we see and/or have talked about recently.

Kennison, I love the plugs for Alfie! I love him “better,” too. Although I’m little disappointed Auntie Ang didn’t make the ‘I love’ cut, the fact that Alfie made it three times is fantastic 🙂
